Why I divorced wedding gowns

Just like in the subject – I think the correspondence below says it all. It’s an exchange with one customer only. I have over 40 thousand e-mails in my mailbox… Yes. Forty thousand.

my make up lasted well, but unfortunately I have very sensitive eyes (I’ve had conjunctivitis several times now) and at the wedding I had bloodshot eyes. I think I’ve had something like a stroke, I mean my entire eyes are extremely red. I think that make up fixer wasn’t good for me. Perhaps I should have waited after spraying it and not open my eyes right away. The conclusion is that I can’t take risks like that in the future (especially not on my wedding day). We won’t be able to touch my eyeball with any make up brush or cosmetic while putting on make up. We will only be able to put some eye shadow on the top lid, maybe some eye shadow at the bottom, under the eye; inside and outside of the eye, as well as the inner corners we cannot touch.
About the lashes I think I’ll put on my own mascara or maybe I’ll put it on myself before the trial make up run and you’ll see how I put it on.
Enough with the grumbling already!
Now on to the questions. When we agree on a date for the make up trial run what will be the cost not counting the travel.

I thought about the make up and I think that my eyes are too hooded to accentuate them like that. THE EFFECT: a drooping eye! We need to do more of a cat eye emphasizing more of the outer corner of the eye and try to lift the lid. I think a darker color may accentuate the outer corner without causing the effect of a drooping eye. I think that instead of a pink eye shadow (the one we out on the eye lid), we need to accentuate the eye with a darker eye shadow. I have a deeply set eye, and hooded eyes in addition and we need to hide that. When I come for the fitting, we’ll only do the eyes because I need to be fully satisfied.
I’m sorry but at first I didn’t think the hooded eye bothered me that much but I know otherwise now.
I’m sending you some photos of the first make up and I think I prefer myself in darker colors.
You’ll compare the make up with the one from today and express your view.
I think that if I do a classic side triangle in the corner of the eye I’ll lift the lid.
Or we could do the colors I have, but with a darker eye shadow on the outside of the eye. I think that if there’s a lighter color on the inside of the eye it adds freshness and makes it larger.

I know my emails say otherwise but I simply want to convey my feelings so that both parties are fully content.
You’re right, strong make up can make eyes look tired but if I’ve gotten used to stronger make up, then I’d like to feel comfortable on my wedding day!
Maybe I’ve misjudged my eye but I can compare make up looks because you’ve done it two times now and I think the first time I didn’t have make up on my lid up to my eyebrow and I think it was better.
I’m sending photos of the first make up you did on me. In these photos typical cat eyes came out. BUT WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE FIRST SHADES? DID THE EYES COME OUT HEAVY? STRONGER COLOR? JUST LIKE I LIKE IT. You’ve helped me a lot with other issues so I really take your opinions into account.
If I wasn’t happy with what you do, I wouldn’t be trying make up again with you with different shades.

We definitely won’t be putting on make up high on the brow bone, but apart from that I’m relying on you. The eyes definitely have to look rested, fresh and have a cat shape. Besides, a customer can always express their feelings and I hope you understand it.

Hairdo: an asymmetric bow and a few accessories made out of fabric. That’s what I’ve decided.

Today I’ve chosen a bouquet made only out of roses (attached), but I’ve added some ecru in some places to the orange color in this bouquet. I CAME HOME AND I REALISED THAT ORANGE ROSES ALONE LOOK BETTER. BUT MY BRIDESMAID WILL HAVE A SPEHRICAL BOUQUET MADE OUT OF ECRU ROSES. ISN’T IT STRANGE THAT SHE WILL HAVE AN ECRU-COLORED BOUQUET JUST LIKE MOST BRIDES CHOOSE. I’LL HAVE A COLORFUL ONE AND SHE’LL HAVE A COLOR THAT NORMALLY BRIDES HAVE? PLEASE ADVISE ME.

So I’m coming for another fitting tomorrow and I hope the dress will be okay and I need to try on the bolero on Wednesday because if something is wrong, I’ll lose faith in all of it. I have no more optimism left in me because of the stains. I’m angry that the side with the frills was deformed during alterations, because it was perfect. I’M CURIOUS IF after you fix it, it’ll be visible. I don’t know how the seamstress could have done one side well and not the other one. If I don’t like it, it’ll have to be fixed as many times as it takes for me to like it because it’s the front of the dress and everyone pays attention to the top, it’s the first thing you see.

I’m most worried about the stains that came out. I want there to be no more stains before Sunday. Please take care of it (especially show me the train). I think the stains didn’t come out of nowhere because some of them are damp patches! How strange!

I trust that everything will be a-okay. I can’t have a dress with stains!

Miss Anna, I would like all the dresses to be stained like this. It’s nothing. Besides the fact that they will be cleaned, no one would even notice them. Our dry cleaner cleans dresses that are black all the way down from the knees. I think you should worry a little less, because your behavior is unsettling. At this pace, you’ll be a bundle of nerves by your wedding day. I’m writing this because I like you a lot and I’m worried. Honestly speaking I was a little surprised by the voice mail you left me – I think your reaction was a little exaggerated (all because of a SUGGESTION of postponing your fitting? Fitting appointments are changed back and forth by both us and the customers and no one has any issues with it if it’s planned early enough).
We have a lot of customers and not one of them is stressed out this much. What’s more, this week we’re making a dress for a customer who’s getting married on April 10th (this Saturday – another salon ‘messed up’) and even she’s not your level of stressed out even though she’ll pick up her dress on Friday right before her wedding. It’s just a wedding. Perhaps it is a beautiful and special day but let’s not let ourselves go crazy – it’s supposed to make you, your future husband and family happy, not stressed out and worried.
Especially that everything is going well, nothing that we cannot fix is happening with the dress.
I’ll also give you a little fun fact, that with new custom-made dressed we normally start fittings 2-3 weeks before the wedding.
Once, at the beginning of my work, I had a customer who decided to get a dress knowing it would be delivered two days before her wedding and everything was alright and beautiful.
Really, we’ve come out winning out of worse situations than a few tiny stains.
And the thread? I’m not sure if it’s the seamstress’s fault, but a thread can only take so much and sometimes it can break on its own – just like in any other piece of clothing.

I’m bothering you before Easter but you know how much I want the dress to be perfectly clean!
Please take a good look at it and remove all the stains. There really were a lot of them. I trust you’ll take care of it. Please also remember to fix the layers on the right side where we made it smaller in the bust where the stitches tore because the whole effect of the dress is ruined when it sticks out like that.
About making it shorter, we’ve already talked about it on the phone. You said the lace will be on a tape and the lining will be tulle either shortened or cut because it was floor-length. You surely marked what has to be done. My church shoes will be 9cm and if I don’t manage to dance all night in them, I’ll change into 7cm. I HOPE THE DRESS LENGTH WILL WORK FOR BOTH HEELS.
WE NOW ONLY HAVE TO MAKE THE BOLERO AND THE PETTICOAT (LIKE THE ONE I TRIED ON).

I won’t even try to remove the alleged shoe stains on my own (alleged because my shoes were new and clean so perhaps it’s not because of shoes after all) but because I keep thinking and worrying about it, I’ll try to organise a different way to get to you and I’d come to see you. A professional is a professional and because I really didn’t know what to do on Sunday and the bridesmaids were in a hurry I’m now angry I didn’t leave it and I took it in the state it is.

In all honesty I didn’t even try on the dress properly after shortening the petticoat and because of that I don’t know what the dress looks like on me and that’s the basis of a good presentation!
I’m wondering if you shortened the petticoat so quickly, is there a way to work equally quickly the other way round, I mean if there’s a necessity to go back to the previous length?
I just need to come to you and we need to work it all out because so many things have me worried.
